A massive system is developing and will move through Victoria on Wednesday.
The feature will be the wind, it will be potentially our windiest system since the April 1 2008 wind storm.
Heres a look at the wind speeds being forecast, you can see the violent set up as the warmer interior air gets slammed by the polar cold air, creating a huge pressure gradient difference.
Thats about 60 to 70 knots at the 850HPA level, or roughly 5000 ft, which is around the 130 km hr mark.
So that’s what you could expect in the Alps, at the surface here we could expect 100 km hr winds.
I would start preparing now by removing all loose objects, tying down anything in the backyard like trampolines, and watch for further updates.
