Big winds in WA today, moving East tomorrow.

Mandurah in the Southern part of WA, 90kms South of Perth, recorded a severe wind gust of 102km/hr this afternoon Perth time.

Satellite pic is amazing, a phenomenal amount of cold air is riding Northwards ferociously. The cold air is the speckled blob behind the cloud band.

Here is tomorrows outlook chart and forecast position.

The mixing of the two air masses will be well and truly on by tomorrow afternoon, as the warm interior air gets dragged south ahead of the front.

I’m expecting winds to 90 km/hr in Melbourne on Wednesday night with higher gusts likely. How close the low gets to Melbourne before sliding South will determine how severe the winds will actually be.

Given all the rain recently in Victoria it’s almost certain to bring down many trees in the Dandenongs and the Alpine regions, get prepared tomorrow if possible.
